Singing is one of the most amazing emotional outlets of all, and the best part is it’s accessible to anyone and everyone.
I started singing before I began talking, it is my greatest love. When I am singing I feel whole, aligned, a part of something greater. I sing when I am happy, sad, confused, frustrated, angry...through every range of emotion. Singing has the power to augment joy, calm anger, soothe the aching soul; simply put, singing is healing. My mission as a holistic vocal coach is to help others access this gift they too carry inside of them, to realise the potential of this healing tool for themselves, and how much it can benefit them on their own journey.
As a holistic vocal coach, the first thing I like to assess is what your intentions are in our working together. We can work solely on an aesthetic level; working together to chart out the physical boundaries of your singing, what your preferences are, who your greatest influences are, what you aspire to do with our work together. After which, I will create customised techniques/warm-ups/exercises to suit your needs/desires/personal goals/and situation to aid you in the most effective way to access your full potential, to really connect with your gift of song and to bring out the best in your voice.
I have had an expansive range of musical experience over the last 20 years, all of which has stemmed from singing. I have sung nearly every genre in a professional setting, I have learned to play several instruments, and I am a prolific writer. I have the pleasure of filling nearly every role in the music industry, from back up singer, to guest singer, to lead singer, to writer (collaborative and solo/for myself and others), from auxiliary instrumentalist to producer. Music is my language and singing is my chosen medium
Everyone has a story, a struggle, challenges in life and triumphs. Every. Single. One. Of. Us. I am, by far, no exception...
I am a recovering addict/alcoholic, and I have also been diagnosed with: Emotional Intensity Disorder, OCD, PTSD, Major Depressive Disorder...etc.
All this to say, I have had to dig, dive and fight for the PEACE I now have in my recovery from these ailments. Was it ‘just singing’ that brought me to this place of serenity and acceptance? The answer is no. But what I can honestly say is that it has provided me with my greatest tool of connection, a clear line to my true myself, who I REALLY am, what I REALLY feel, which by proxy has enabled me to connect with others on a grand scale...at a core level. It has allowed me to access the deepest regions of myself and find radical acceptance in those places; to come to terms with my shadow, to transmute negative experiences into song, and finally to harness this innate channel of self-expression for myself and to the world, in an honest, authentic way.
Singing has been instrumental in my own personal growth and alignment, in finding my flow and place in this world...in giving me my ‘mojo’ back. I have learned to harness the healing power of this wonderful tool, and I want to share my methods with others.
